Byrider, a national buy-here, pay-here used car dealership network and franchisor, has announced the appointment of franchise executive John Miller to its board of directors.
Miller is the former president and chief executive officer and director of Denny’s Corporation. Denny’s operates approximately 1,300 franchise locations. As CEO from 2011-2022 Miller led a successful turnaround of the historic brand, continuously improving same-store sales and franchisee satisfaction.
In addition to his leadership roles, Miller is also a franchisee of several restaurant businesses, including Whataburger, giving him firsthand insight into the opportunities and challenges that today’s franchise owners face.
“What attracted me to Byrider was the alignment across the organization and the genuine desire to become a franchisor of choice,” said Miller. “The leadership team has already established an impressive culture and a strong foundation for growth that I look forward to building on. I’ve learned throughout my career that when everyone is rowing in the same direction, great things can happen, and I see that mindset throughout this organization. The opportunity ahead is significant and I’m excited to contribute my franchise experience and support the Byrider team as they continue expanding the business and creating opportunities for franchisees nationwide.”
Miller’s appointment comes as Byrider continues investing in the leadership, technology and franchise infrastructure needed in its next phase of growth. Most recently, the company opened a new Franchise Support Center located at 111 Congressional Blvd. in Carmel, Ind. The facility brings together key functions across operations, training, development and franchise support under one roof.
“John has spent his career scaling brands successfully while building strong relationships with franchisees, and that perspective will be invaluable as Byrider continues to evolve,” said Sean Garber, chairman of the Byrider Board of Directors.
