"The NHTSA released documents earlier in the week covering 118 complaints citing an issue with the spot weld failing on the front door arm bracket.  “Many consumers report hearing a popping noise when opening the door as the door check bracket begins to separate from the door. “  The document reads.  The agency conducted a number of consumer interviews resulting in 25 reports of minor injuries and 1 report of minor property damage.

The investigation covers 346,000 Escapes from the 2020 and 2021 model years. The Ford Escape was one of iSeeCars’ most popular cars of 2022 coming in at #9 and comprising 1.5 % of all used vehicle sales in 2022.

The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that the NHTSA is still determining if the issue creates an unreasonable risk to highway safety and could seek a recall.
