Auction Seeks Donations for Charity

By Staff Writer August 13, 2020

Louisiana’s 1st Choice Auto Auction has a 10-year tradition of hosting a golf tournament to benefit several nonprofits in the Hammond area. It has grown substantially, and the tournament has been able to support three nonprofits over the last few years: Options Inc., Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and Child Advocacy Services.

This year’s tournament was canceled due to coronavirus precautions, but that will not stop Louisiana’s 1st Choice Auto Auction from raising money for its community. This year, the auction will continue to support previous beneficiaries from past tournaments and also has included Manger House Ministries in the fundraising. The auction asks past sponsors and anyone able to contribute to the goal of $50,000 for these four organizations.

On Aug. 5, John Poteet CEO and Managing Partner at 1st Choice announced, “We believe strongly that our success is empty if we don’t find ways to help those in need around us. In this regard, we have concentrated our philanthropic endeavors on the most vulnerable members of our community; children, the intellectually disabled, and other disadvantaged people. My wife, Georgianne and I, along with the auction, will match all donations up to $25,000.”

Those interesting in donating may contact the auction for more details. LAFCAA will continue the tradition in 2021, with the 22th annual golf tournament.
