Auto industry veteran Scott Lilja has been named vice president of member services for the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association, according to NIADA CEO Michael R. Linn. "Scott is one of the best known players in the automotive industry and he brings a unique perspective to our organization and its members," Linn said. "We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have him join NIADA." Lilja begins his new role March 1. He will create special programs for NIADA's 20,000 members throughout the U.S. and will initiate business alliances to reach dealer audiences through activities that benefit both members and vendors. He has worked closely with NIADA throughout his tenure at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and at other times. In 2002, Lilja received NIADA's Ring of Honor, the highest award given to individuals whose contributions to the association and the used motor vehicle industry far exceed the norm. A native of Minnesota, Lilja's experience covers a broad range of areas. He signed on with the NADA in 1997 and spent a dozen years in various leadership roles. He was vice president and chief operating officer of NADA's Analytical Services Group, which produces both electronic and print versions of vehicle pricing guides within the NADA Used Car Guide Company. He also worked as a staff consultant with NADA Insurance, both based in McLean, Va. Prior to his stint with NADA, Lilja was director of marketing for FinishMaster, the largest auto refinish distributor in the United States.
